How do I get a passport booklet?

You can get your Tennessee Whiskey Trail Passport in one of two ways. You can pick up a copy of the printed passport at any of the participating distilleries on the Tennessee Whiskey Trail. Or sign up and track your progress with our digital passport. You can participate with the printed passport or the digital version—or both!

How do I complete the Tennessee Whiskey Trail passport?

Collect stamps at all participating distilleries listed in the passport booklet or featured on the digital version. Once you’ve visited all participating distilleries, you can submit your completed passport by mail or email. Once your trips have been verified, we’ll send you a poker set.

How do I claim my prize?

If you’ve visited all the participating distilleries and logged each visit by checking in with the digital version (or getting a stamp with your print booklet), you’ll earn a commemorative poker set. For those of you who used the printed passport, simply mail the completed booklet to us, along with your mailing address and we’ll process your claim. Please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery. If you’ve used the TN Whiskey Trail digital passport, claim your prize upon your final distillery check in. Please include your mailing address.

How long does it take to tour all of the Tennessee Whiskey Trail distilleries?

We realize that Tennessee has so much to offer that it is impossible to experience it all in one trip. As lovers of all things Tennessee, we thought we should give you a hand in planning your trip.  We’ve put together suggested itineraries that will help maximize your time with visiting all of the distilleries and enjoying the sights along the way. You may want to spend more or less time in a specific region, or choose à la carte which distilleries to visit in those areas. To simplify things even more, we’ve broken down the same itinerary by region. Visit the Trip Planner section and choose the region that you’re most interested in to plan your adventure.

How long are the tours at each distillery?

Each distillery’s tour is individualized for that distillery. Some distilleries offer in-depth, specialized tours, which can take longer. You should plan on spending at least 45 minutes to 1½ hours at each distillery to tour, savor the tasting rooms and visit the gift shops. If you’re interested in times for a specific distillery tour, visit the Distilleries section of our website and choose the distillery you’re interested in touring for more information. We encourage you to contact the distillery to plan your trip and call ahead, up to an hour prior to arrival to confirm tour times and business hours for the day.

Are there any fees involved to participate in distillery tours?

Each distillery has different requirements for tours and tastings. Some distilleries charge a minimal fee for tours and/or tastings, while at other distilleries, these are complimentary offerings.  Several distilleries conduct specialty and private touring options. Please see the Distilleries section on our website to see which distillery offers the best fit for your trail adventure.  We encourage you to contact the distillery to inquire about tour availability and call ahead, up to an hour prior to arrival to confirm tour times and business hours for the day.

Are large groups allowed on tours?

Each distillery has different requirements for tour-group capacity. Several distilleries conduct specialty and private touring options to accommodate larger groups. Contact these distilleries for group tour reservations. Please see the Distilleries section on our website to see which distillery offers group accommodations to meet your needs.  Contact the distillery prior to your groups arrival and call ahead at least to an hour or more prior the group’s arrival to confirm tour times and business hours for the day.

Do I need to start the trail at a specific distillery, city or location?

Absolutely not! The choice is up to you entirely. There is no official beginning or end to the Tennessee Whiskey Trail tour. Take your time, enjoy the open road. Immerse yourself in the local culture, try our Southern cuisine and explore all the small towns along the way.  If you prefer to have a plan for traveling, visit the Trip Planner section of our website to check out the 10-day itinerary that will help maximize your time with visiting all of the distilleries and enjoying the sights along the way.

Are people under 21 allowed to take tours?

All distilleries require you to be at least 21 years old to participate in tasting their products, but anyone is welcome to visit. Please see the Distilleries section on our website to see each distillery’s requirements for touring. However, you must be 21 to participate in the Tennessee Whiskey Trail Passport program.

Are tour reservations required?

Each distillery has different requirements for tours and tastings. Some distilleries require reservations for tours and/or tastings, while other distilleries offer tours hourly during normal business hours.  Several distilleries conduct specialty and private touring options that must be booked in advance. Please see the Distilleries section on our website to see each distillery’s requirements for tours.  We encourage you to contact the distillery to inquire about tour availability and call ahead, up to an hour prior to arrival, to confirm tour times and business hours for the day.

Do the distilleries offer samples?

Nearly all of the distilleries offer a sample tasting. Some distilleries charge a minimal fee or “tips” for tastings, while other distilleries, offer these complimentary. All distilleries require you to be at least 21 years old to participate in tasting their products and will require a proof of identification.

How can I get additional maps of the regions or brochures of the distilleries that I’m visiting?

We’ve put together a regional listing of visitor’s centers, welcome centers and area chambers of commerce to assist you with additional travel information to make the most of your trip!  Visit either the Passport and Map sections on our website for visitor’s center listings. Why isn’t every distillery represented on the Tennessee Whiskey Trail tour?

A distillery must be a member distillery of the Tennessee Distillers Guild in order to participate in the Tennessee Whiskey Trail tour. For more information on how to become a member distillery, visit: tndistillersguild.org

What about distilleries with multiple locations?

For the purpose of completing the Tennessee Whiskey Trail and receiving your free gift, you only need to visit one location if that particular distillery has multiple locations.

Are distilleries handicap accessible?

The Tennessee Distillers Guild member distilleries make every effort to comply with all legal building code requirements. We encourage visitors to contact each distillery individually with specific accessibility questions. Please see the distilleries section on our website for distillery contact information.
