An All-American City
PATRIOTIC CLARKSVILLE
Patriotic Clarksville
Looking to celebrate your American spirit while you imbibe some spirits? Look no further than the legendary Clarksville. Known as the hometown of the 101st Airborne “Screaming Eagles,” this city has it all including their historic downtown, a delicious foodie scene, and plenty of opportunities to get outside and enjoy the scenery.
Stamp your passport:
Old Glory Distilling Co. is a small-batch artisan distillery that uses locally grown grains to make hand-crafted spirits. The owner, Matt Cunningham, is a native Clarksvillian, and the products he crafts are a representation of the hardworking, patriotic, and unyielding character that embodies Clarksville and this country.
Stay Overnight:
Most all of Clarksville’s hotels are located near the distillery just off the interstate, but the city has plenty of options including Airbnbs in the downtown area and even campgrounds if you’re traveling with your RV. Click here to check out more lodging options.
Eat & Drink:
The culinary scene in Clarksville is far more diverse than you might expect in a city this size. The influence of Fort Campbell, Austin Peay State University, and international industries brings a surprisingly global flare.
Smokin Chikin offers the finest rotisserie chicken with a variety of global marinades and sides. Enjoy German meats, cheeses, and pastries from Silke’s Old World Breads & Bakery; all the Korean comfort foods at Momo’s Korean BBQ; upscale sushi that Nashvillians flock to at Kohana or a small-plate seasion Italian meal at Yada on Franklin.
If you’re traveling to the South for authentic Southern food though, you won’t be disappointed. Try the Catfish House tucked away beside the Cumberland River, or Liberty Park Grill overlooking the marina. If the downtown scene is more your vibe, don’t miss out on Blackhorse Pub & Brewery or Strawberry Alley Ale Works.
Things to Do:
Looking to imbibe more than just spirits? Within 2 miles of Old Glory Distilling Co. are the Star Spangled Brewing Company and Beachaven Vineyards & Winery. Visit all three to get a taste of Tennessee.
If you’re looking for unique outdoor activities, you’ve found the right place. Head over to one of the two state parks in the area: Dunbar Cave, a prehistoric site, or Port Royal, an extinct tobacco town. You can kayak or fish on the Cumberland River or if you prefer to stay on dry land, stroll the river walk.
Walk around the historic downtown to admire the scenic architecture and pop into the Customs House Museum & Cultural Center. For more outdoor options with a history, check out Fort Defiance Civil War Park or travel to the countryside for a self-guided tour of the Historic Collinsville Pioneer Settlement.
