Cookeville

A Natural Fit

Cookeville

Cookeville, Tennessee is located on the Cumberland Plateau and with area hills, trails, caves, lakes, rivers and waterfalls – it’s the perfect place to seek adventure along the TN Whiskey Trail.

Stamp your passport:

Grab that passport and head into town. There you’ll find Tennessee Legend Distillery at Maddux Place. Sip on several offerings with a tasting of flavored moonshines, whiskeys and rums and while you are there, sit back and enjoy a libation at their newly opened Cocktail bar!

Explore the History:

The city of Cookeville takes pride in preserving and sharing the city’s rich history with visitors, especially in the downtown area. The Cookeville Train Depot, established in 1909, serviced the city until the 1950’s when the passenger train service was phased out, and still stands in the downtown area today. Scattered throughout the city, you’ll find several historical plaques, murals, local shops and eateries to explore as well.

Eat & Drink:

There’s nothing quite like a quick lunch and a cold beverage during a day of exploring! One great stop for a quick bite is Father Tom’s Pub in downtown Cookeville. The charming eatery comes complete with a dog friendly garden, patio, delicious food and friendly service!

Must Try:

Have a night on the town and head to Seven Senses Food and Cheer in the Entertainment District to enjoy an evening of wining and dining. With a seasonal menu full of fresh options at affordable prices, forgo the chains and experience a nice place to gather in the heart of the city. Don’t leave without ordering the Bacon and Cheese Grit puppies! You’ll thank me later!

Go on an adventure:

There are no shortages of adventures in Cookeville, so narrowing the to-do list can be a difficult task. If you’re in a time crunch, check out Dogwood Park. The hot-spot is highly recommended by locals and tourists alike. If you’re into hiking, the lesser-known City Lake and Falls Trail is a hidden gem. Once arriving on the trail, it is just a short walk along a stream to the lightly flowing waterfalls. It’s the perfect place to have lunch, bring the pup, and splash around. Looking for a longer hike? We highly recommend checking out other falls on The Cumberland Plateau such as Burgess, Cummins, Window Cliff or Rock Island!
