Year-Round Tennessee Whiskey Trail Round Up
Every season is a good season for whiskey—of course, you already know this. What you may not know is just how many ways there are to enjoy and celebrate your favorite amber indulgence all-year round, right in your own backyard.
In the South, we work hard at whatever we do, whether that’s distilling the best whiskey or finding the best ways to enjoy it. We do nothing half-way, especially if we can have a good time doing it. So, for all you connoisseurs and enthusiasts, from the dedicated distiller to the small-town sipper, we’ve rounded up some of the most exciting events coming down the Tennessee Whiskey Trail in 2021.
May: Granville Cornbread & Moonshine Festival
The only thing better than a nice whiskey is a nice whiskey with a good meal. And good music. And great community too. On May 1, “Tennessee’s Mayberry Town” will host the 8th annual Cornbread & Moonshine Festival, where you can enjoy life’s finest pleasures in the company of rolling hills, serene waters, and rich Southern charm. Come early for the Cornbread Cookoff and stay for the spirits: eight local distilleries provide—you guessed it—moonshine, bourbon, Tennessee whiskey, and plenty more. Sample what you like and bring a bottle home to share.
June: Roar & Pour at the Memphis Zoo
Who said the zoo was just for kids? Call a babysitter and take a walk on the wild side at Roar & Pour, an exclusive culinary and cocktail experience. Here’s a chance for a little adventure with a lot of style. You’ll enjoy rockin’ live music and gourmet plates prepared by some of the most exciting restaurants in Memphis. To top everything off—you’ll be treated to a select bourbon paired with a bona fide, hand-rolled cigar from Cuba. Talk about a grown-up take on the zoo!
All summer: Nashville Craft Drive-In Concert Series
In this long year of cancelled shows and postponed events, one surefire way to get your live music fix is the Nashville Craft Drive-In Concert Series. Saturday nights in summer, you can park yourself (and your car) at the Nashville Craft Distillery for an evening of pickin’ and grinnin’. Last year’s acts included Nashville icons like Jeannie Seely, Cheley Tackett, and Kendell Marvel, and this year’s lineup is sure to wet your whistle too.
October: Haunted Woods at Short Mountain Distillery
An old cabin, the rasp of a chainsaw, an eerie moonlit lake—sounds more like a good camping weekend than a horror movie to us, but hey, what do we know? Good thing Short Mountain Distillery does: if you listen close on Saturday nights in Woodbury, they say you can hear screams echoing through the Haunted Woods…Lucky for you, you can take in a little booze before braving these boos. And for this one, you can bring the kids along for the spooky fun!
November: Townsend Grains & Grits Festival
The Townsend Grains & Grits Festival is a fine chance to appreciate all that whiskey has to offer—call it a celebration of Southern spirits and gourmet grub After all, whiskey has done a lot for us. It’s taken us to the limits of craft and obsession. It’s fostered fellowship and warmed us on cold autumn nights. Now bartenders and foodies, professionals and weekend warriors are all invited to come together for this showcase evening in Townsend.
A Year for the Books
We’ve all got a lot of catching up to do this year, and you’ll find plenty ways to do it all along the Tennessee Whiskey Trail. Keep your eye on our events calendar for more information about these events and help us keep the good times rolling
